Fielding Mumbai’s cricket talent

Cricket enjoys a religion like status in India. The aim for an initiative in cricket was to identify and promote talent from South Mumbai. The initiative that began in February 2011, saw more than 9000 youngsters participating. The whole process spanned over two weeks. Just like the Football Tournament, the Cricket Tournament also had scouts looking out for talented youngsters.

 

In its first avatar, the scouts identified 18 participants. They got the opportunity to train under Mumbai Indians coaches like Jhonty Rhodes and Robin Singh. The platform provided was even wider than the football tournament. Apart from promoting the game, the initiative provided thousands of youngsters the opportunity they yearn for and helped some of them realize their dream of training under the biggest cricketing stars.
