On 18th January 2014, Mr. Milind Deora launched the Worli Festival in Mumbai. MLA Sachin Ahir and local RAs and NGO’s accompanied him as well.
Shree Sankalp Pratishthan along with OMCPL are organizing the Worli Festival 2014. The festival last year saw more than 300,000 people in attendance along with over 27 artist performances. The festival also included International Carnival Acts and a Food Festival. This year however, the Worli Festival promises the participants and spectators a lot more.
The Worli Festival 2014 is scheduled from 24th January – 26th January 2014 and will be staged at the iconic Worli Sea Face Promenade and the RWITC (Race Course). A string of events including a Food Festival (RWITC), a Kid’s Carnival, Kala Bazaar (Art and Craft Zone), a Flea Market, Morning Ragas including a melodious performance by Begum Parveen Sultana at the Worli Sea Face, Art Installation talking about Mumbai Vision 20-20, Mumbai Masala/Pot Puja (showcasing food zones at the Worli Sea Face offering lip smacking local treats), Worli’s Got Talent (a talent contest open to Worli residents) and a Short Film Festival Stage showcasing short films from all over the globe; giving the guests an opportunity to interact with reputed Bollywood directors will be seen at the Worli Festival 2014.
A Republic Color 5K run will be held at the Worli Festival 2014 for the first time. The Republic Color run will be held at the Worli Sea Face. This run is not a competitive run but a means to enjoy by people of all ages.
The Worli Festival received an overwhelming response last year, which encouraged Hon’ble Minister of Housing and Environment, Sachin Ahir to encourage the festival this year as well. Urmila Matondkar, Dino Morea and Bipasha Basu were among many others who were present at the Worli Festival last year. This year however, the Worli Festival will see the dynamic, Salman Khan making his presence on the first day of the festival. Many more celebrities are expected to join him at the festival in the days to come.
The essence of the Worli festival has always been about celebrating Worli and bringing together people from various parts of Mumbai.
